The McMaster Museum of Art invites you to join us this Thursday evening as we celebrate a new season of art exhibitions. Admission is Free and light refreshments will be provided.
PICTURING WELLNESS
On view until 26 March 2016
A two-part exhibition of contemporary art focusing on resilience from a health humanities perspective.
Picturing Wellness I was coordinated by Dr. Christine Wekerle, Associate Professor, Pediatrics, McMaster University and Nicole Knibb, Education Coordinator, McMaster Museum of Art, This didactic exhibition examines how visual literacy skills may be used by health professionals.
Picturing Wellness II presents artworks that ponder issues related to trauma and the role art may play in healing. Includes works on loan by Michelle Bellemare, Rebecca Belmore, Nancy Kembry, Catherine Heard, and Yvonne Singer.

ART OF PEACE
Elizabeth Doxtater
January 14 – April 2, 2016
Organized in partnership with the Indigenous Studies Program at McMaster University. Presented in conjunction with the University’s Perspectives on Peace activities.
Six Nations artist Elizabeth Doxtater uses cornhusk dolls and dioramas to express key parts of traditional Haudenosaunee stories and culture.

SHIFT: Environmentally Responsible Print Practice*

Curated by Judy Major-Girardin and Briana Palmer, McMaster University School of the Arts
The Shift exhibition at the McMaster Museum of Art celebrates 28 artists who are seeking alternatives that lighten the footprint of their print practice, provide safer studio methods and explore pressing issues of our times. The call for submissions attracted seventy-eight artists from across North America.
An Environmentally Responsible Print SYMPOSIUM will be held February 26, 8 am – 3 pm. Free.
