The Museum is located at the centre of the University campus at the corner of Sterling Street and University Avenue (Attached to Mills Memorial Library) with the entrance facing west. It is easily reached by public transport with HSR buses stopping at the door. Paid parking is nearby. The closest parking is in Lots B & C.

McMaster Museum of Art offers free guided tours for all ages as well as hands-on educational activities customized to suit your interests. All of the galleries are wheelchair accessible.

Self-Guided Group Tours

Individuals and groups with less than 10 are welcome to visit to galleries, no appointment necessary, during our open gallery hours or enjoy the outdoor Walking Tour of Campus Sculpture.

LIBRARY

UNKNOWN ARTIST AFTER UGO DA CARPI, A SIBYL READING A BOOK, 16TH CENTURY WOODCUT

The MMA Reference Library houses the museum’s modest collection of books, artist’s files and exhibition catalogues and is located in the lower level Education Gallery. The volunteer-run library has grown significantly in recent years thanks to generous donations. Its collection reflects and supports the McMaster Museum of Art Permanent Collection. The MMA library is an outstanding resource for staff, students and researchers.

The MMA Reference Library is open by appointment only.

Materials may not be removed from the reference library, but photocopying services are available.

Photocopying charges: 10 cents per page (30 page maximum)

Payment upon request. Copies ready for pick up at Reception Desk within 3 days.

Books in the McMaster Museum of Art Library are included in the McMaster University Library Catalogue.

ROOM BOOKINGS

Meeting/Class Rooms are available at the McMaster Museum of Art and are free for University groups.

They are available only during open Museum hours.

Rates are for one day.
Audio-visual equipment is available.
Food and drink are permitted in these rooms.
