Echo Artist Talks: Paul Cvetich

The Echo Artist Talks series resumes for its Winter 2017 season on Thursday January 19, when the Hamilton Arts Council’s Visual Arts Committee welcomes Hamilton-based sculptor Paul Cvetich to Mills Hardware in downtown Hamilton.

His exhibition Kuniyoshi vs Cvetich: Gangnam Style featuring a selection of his recent works alongside woodblock prints from McMaster Museum of Art’s collection by Utagawa Kuniyoshi (Japanese 1797 – 1861) is on view at the Museum from January 12 to April 15, 2017.

Paul Cvetich is a Hamilton artist who earned an Honours BA in Art and Art History at McMaster University and received his MFA from the University of Guelph. In 1990 he was awarded the Hamilton and District Labour Council commission for the Day of Mourning Memorial, which is permanently sited at the corner of Bay and Main Streets.

ABOUT ECHO ARTIST TALKS

Echo Artist Talks is a project of the Hamilton Arts Council Visual Arts Committee that provides a forum for both local and visiting artists exhibiting in Hamilton galleries to share their experiences with the local community. Hosted monthly at Mills Hardware in downtown Hamilton, each talk includes a Q&A session and opportunity for informal networking before and after the talk with a cash bar available on site. Doors open at 7:00 in advance of the start of the artist’s talk at 7:30.

In order to share the artist’s work and words with the widest possible audience, this lecture and all others in the Echo Artist Talks series will be video recorded and made available online through the Hamilton Arts Council website.
