Working together to create a visual story of Hamilton

This summer at the McMaster Museum of Art (MMA) we have two cityscape photography-based exhibitions:

One is Performing an Archive by Canadian artist Suzy Lake.
The second is Hamilton, presenting a series of photographs by a Hamilton-based Canadian artist, Joseph Hartman.
(These exhibitions open May 5.)

We’re launching a collaborative online project and we need your help. We want to create a photographic narrative of Hamilton BY Hamiltonians. Take photos of YOUR Hamilton.

VISIT AND VIEW

Book a Group #ThisIsMyHamOnt tour with us. You will:

• tour the artwork on display in our photography exhibitions
• learn about photography, collaboration, and the creative process
• examine digital communication
• build a greater understanding of Hamilton through user-generated images

FOR TEACHERS

You may encourage your students to participate in the hashtag and complement their own creative process with a # ThisIsMyHamOnt tour which includes links to the Ontario curriculum in guided group discussion and learning.

Students will work together through guided group discussion to interpret images shared via the #ThisIsMyHamOnt, as well as works on display in the MMA’s photography exhibitions.
