The Year of Creativity FWI project culminated its year of workshops with a Week of Creativity in late July. McMaster University graduate students from Engineering, English, Math, Medicine, Linguistics, Social Work and Biochemistry came together to explore creativity and innovation through expressions in art.
Hamilton Artist and McMaster Fine Art alumnus Leslie Furness led a step-by-step lesson to recreate French artist Claude Monet’s famous Water Lilies and the Japanese Bridge painting. Mad Students Society member Alise deBie welcomed students to engage in creative play, puzzles, board games, Lego, colouring and art making to unlock creative imaginations. Participants also received a small gift of art supplies to continue art-making and writing at home. Graduate students who are also undercover artists shared their work in our Graduate Student Amateur Art Exhibition in the McMaster Museum of Art’s Education Gallery during the week. The exhibition is hosted by Irena Radisevic.
