This weekend, the McMaster School of the Arts and the Museum celebrated the Studio Art Class of 2016 in their graduation exhibition, Exit Strategy (also known as SUMMA 2016).
“It is enormously rewarding for us to host the Graduating art student exhibition each year―to see their achievements and share in their celebrations after four years of intensive study,” said Museum Director Carol Podedworny. “The quality of the artwork and variety of media explored by these artists is impressive.”
The Museum congratulates everyone involved – the extraordinary group of emerging artists, the SOTA faculty and staff, and the 2016 guest curator, Stephanie Vegh (Director of Hamilton Arts Council, artist and McMaster alumnus) – for bringing us a stellar summa show.

The 2016 SUMMA award winners:
Ryan Bruer (Faculty Award, selected by the McMaster Studio Art Program Faculty)
Brittany Sostar (Museum Award, selected by the Guest Curator, Stephanie Vegh)
Leeanne Grossi (People’s Choice Award)
Svava Thordis Juliusson, Hamilton-based artist, has kindly agreed to be the Guest Curator of next year’s SUMMA exhibition!.
