Video: Deanna Bowen’s Artist Talk

March 26, 2015

Deanna Bowen video still

On March 19, Toronto artist Deanna Bowen presented an artist’s talk at the Museum as a complement to her artwork in the group exhibition This is Me, This is Also Me. Her work combines personal autobiography and archival research to raise questions about the silences and gaps in familial and collective histories of slavery, racism, and migration. Her presentation offers fascinating insights into her practice and the difficult material she continues to explore in her art.

This is Me, This is Also Me was on view at the McMaster Museum of Art from November 6, 2014 – March 21, 2015.
