McMaster Museum of Art is pleased to present SUMMA 2022: Taking Space. The exhibition presents the work of 18 emerging artists graduating from McMaster University’s School of the Arts class of 2022. After two years of hosting the annual exhibition online, the museum is excited to be presenting this year’s exhibition in person in the Sherman and Panabaker Galleries.
Curated by Sahra Soudi, the work in the exhibition is united around the central theme of taking space. According to Soudi, “Taking space means daring to be bold, seen, and heard. The 2022 SUMMA exhibition Taking Space does exactly that. Through the exhibition, these young visionary artists explore the connections between their craft and their principles, finding innovative ways to share their emerging art practices.”
The exhibition includes work from a variety of mediums such as painting, digital media, drawing, photography, textiles, and installation.
Artist talks will be recorded and available on the museum’s website in April.
To view Taking Space, visit the museum during open hours. Appointments are not required.
The museum gratefully acknowledges the continued support of the Ontario Arts Council.
