Following the launch of a new website and digital brand, the M(M)A’s revitalized eMuseum platform improves both accessibility and technology to create an enhanced user experience
The McMaster Museum of Art houses McMaster University’s permanent collection of more that 6000 objects that encompass the history of art from the late 15th to the 21st century, and coins and antiquities from Mediterranean cultures and China.
While not all of these artworks and objects can be displayed at all times, it is important that our collection is accessible to the public as part of our mission to engage, educate, and inspire. For many years the M(M)A has used Gallery System’s eMuseum platform to allow users, researchers and students to browse information about objects in the collection. Today, we are pleased to share that we have completed a yearlong project to update eMuseum to the latest technology available with the launch of eMuseum 6.3.
The objective of the upgrade was to:
The new eMuseum presents a modern look and feel that is closely aligned with our brand designed by Underline Studios Inc, creating a seamless digital experience. In addition, the M(M)A is now able to publish any type of digital media on eMuseum, from images and PDFs to interactive video, slideshows, and sound. Users can also create a profile and use the My Collection feature to save favourites and share data. Among its many other improved technological features, we are excited to be able to customize the platform as we continue to grow the collection at the M(M)A.
Please visit the new eMuseum here (also available on our homepage and via the collections tab).
Thank you to Gallery Systems and RHPCs for their support, and Julie Bronson, Collections Administrator at the M(M)A for her leadership and dedication to the project.
