On April 29, McMaster Museum of Art launched the 2021 Summa exhibition: QUIXOTIC.
The virtual exhibition presents the work of 19 students graduating from McMaster University’s 2021 BFA program.
As part of the annual awards program for this celebratory show, the MMA hosted a People’s Choice award via an online public poll. We are pleased to announce that after collecting over 600 responses, the winner of this year’s People Choice Award is Jill Letten.
Congratulations, Jill!
About Jill Letten
Jill Letten is an artist based in Hamilton, Ontario. Growing up around a lower-middle class area prominent with industrialized factories and toxic waters, the visible effects of a gradually degrading environment became normalized. Jill explores climate change through experiences and scientific research to understand and address challenging subject matter that is often disregarded or denied in society. Her work manifests itself into acrylic paintings, visualizing environments with realistic and surrealistic elements.
Learn more about Jill and the other participating artists by visiting the QUIXOTIC exhibition page. The student’s have also created their own website for the show, viewable here.
The winner’s of the Faculty Award and the Curator’s Award were announced at the launch event and are detailed here.
