John Scott and Ann MacDonald spoke at McMaster Museum of Art on October 29, 2015. It was a privilege to be in the audience, and we’re delighted to be able to share the event here.
John Scott was the first recipient of the Governor General’s Award for Visual Art in 2000. The Toronto-based artist is also a long-time faculty member at OCADU. His works are represented in major Canadian public collections and in the United States and Europe.
Ann MacDonald is the Director/Curator, Doris McCarthy Gallery, University of Toronto Scarborough and, with Scott, co-authored Shiva’s Really Scary Gifts (Coach House Books, 2002).
This public event was presented as a complement to the exhibition DARK COMMANDER: THE ART OF JOHN SCOTT, a two-part exhibition: McMaster Museum of Art, Fall 2015 I Art Gallery of Hamilton, Winter 2016, organized by The Faulconer Gallery, Grinnell College, Iowa and curated by Daniel Strong.
The installation views from McMaster Museum of Art are augmented by images provided by Nicholas Metivier Gallery.
