Museum’s first year at Hess Street School wraps with student print show

Over the course of the 2019-2020 school year, McMaster Museum of Art (MMA) education staff partnered with Hess Street School elementary teachers Christine Wilson and Lorraine Cooper to provide a new program of integrated cross-curricular lessons for students. MMA education officer Teresa Gregorio brought the museum to school in a series of class visits. The program included a variety of hands-on lessons and skill-building opportunities, culminating in a linocut printmaking art project.

Museum of Art heads into virtual school classrooms

During the COVID-19 shutdown, McMaster Museum of Art’s education team are working closely with teachers in the Hamilton area to provide digital versions of its school programs to elementary and secondary schools.

Museum of Art partners with Hess Street School

Following an enthusiastic partnership begun during the McMaster Museum of Art’s spring outreach program in Hamilton schools, the museum of art’s education officer Teresa Gregorio developed a specialized collaborative project with two Hess Street Elementary School teachers, Christine Wilson and Lorraine Cooper. They use McMaster’s significant art collection to teach visual literacy skills.
